Janet C. Gilmore, University of Wisconsin-Madison
Janet C. Gilmore is Associate Professor of Folklore and Landscape Architecture at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since joining the faculty in 2003, her academic program has integrated two prior decades of independent contract and public folklore work with arts and historical organizations mainly in the Upper Midwest and Pacific Northwest. A specialist in ethnographic documentary surveys resulting in public programs, archival collections, and more recently, cultural conservation approaches, she has emphasized fieldwork-based classes including four field schools, two of which focused on cultural landscapes and vernacular architecture. Ever-changing digital recording equipment and formats have dogged the curation of this growing archival repository of ethnographic documentation. More.
