Buffer (Data): The buffer refers to an amount of memory separated from the rest that acts as a holding tank for information as it is taken from one source to another. The changes made to any file are stored in the buffer before actually being saved to the file being worked on. This works in much the same principle as a bus stop. Only so many people can ride the bus at a time and so those who cannot fit must wait at the stop until another bus arrives. [ Audio Glossary ] [ Video Glossary ]
