Hertz (Hz)

Hertz (Hz): Sounds occur when something, like a violin string, vibrates (goes back and fourth, pushes air around, which goes into ears). One complete back and fourth per second is = to 1 Hertz. Humans can hears sounds that go from about 20 complete vibrations per second (20 hertz) to 20,000 complete vibrations per second (hertz).[ [ Audio Glossary ]
